Chief Executive Officer – Derek Coles MCIM. DipM, MInstD
After a career in Financial Services (FS), Derek has extensive experience in general insurance, life and the retail FS market. He joined Ryan Direct Group in 2006 from international loss adjusters GAB Robins, where he was Managing Director. In 2007 he led the MBO of Ryan Direct Group from Barclays Private Equity. Prior to 2006, Derek was Managing Director for the insurance intermediaries of both the Barclays and Woolwich brands. As Head of Group Procurement for life, general insurance and mortgage products he was responsible for two of Barclays Bank’s most notable alliances with Woolwich Plc and Legal and General. In his current role, Derek has overall responsibility for delivering the business strategy and growth targets whilst also delivering the services and expected results.
Managing Director – Scott Hough
Scott is an ACA qualified accountant and spent 9 years prior to joining Ryan Direct Group working in practice at KPMG in audit and corporate finance internationally specialising in financial services. In 2002 Scott joined Ryan Direct Group as Financial Director to provide the business with the platform for future growth. With the retirement of two founding directors of Ryan Direct Group in 2007 Scott was a key part of the MBO.
Distribution Division Director – Stuart Pendleton
Stuart has extensive experience in the General Insurance marketplace. He has been with Ryan Direct Group for just over 4 years, having formerly been with Aviva in Corporate Partnerships where he managed a number of their Strategic Relationships, including Barclays & Nationwide. Prior to that he worked with RSA and GE Capital, again overseeing key partnerships and business strategy. Stuart is responsible for the growth of Ryan Direct Group Distribution division, leading the sales strategy and overseeing the Group’s change and implementation capability. Stuart is also responsible for Ryan Direct Group’s direct to consumer brand Simple Insurance, the management of existing partnerships such as Think Money, Only Young Drivers and Uinsure and the distribution of Fortress Home insurance capacity to the broker market.
Claims Division Director – Russell Crewe
ACII and Chartered Insurance Practitioner, Russell originally trained as a building surveyor and initially commenced his loss adjusting career dealing with subsidence claims for GAB Robins. After advancing his career in commercial claims with GAB Robins, Russell joined Ashworth Mairs Group (AMG) in 1996. In 2001 he set up QCRN the building repair network and surveying services division of AMG. Having been appointed to the Management Board of AMG in 2002, Russell became Director of Operations and ran both the loss adjusting and claims management centres for AMG when a Management buyout was completed in 2005. He held this position until August 2012, when he joined Ryan Direct Group where he is responsible for the management of the entire claims operation include, Travel, Property, Protection, Liability and the Field Force claims teams.
